Welcome to the Assessment in Inclusive Settings project area!

The project began in 2005, with 23 Agency member and observer countries participating in phase 1 of project activities, and 25 countries involved in phase 2 activities. The overall goal for the project was to examine how assessment policy and practice can support effective decision-making about teaching and learning approaches, methods and steps in the best possible ways.

Aims

The aims of the project were:

  • to develop a knowledge base looking at assessment policies and practice in the participating countries;
  • to examine innovative examples of effective assessment policy and practice and highlight recommendations and guidelines for assessment in inclusive settings.

Project participants

Assessment experts from Austria, the Flemish and French communities of Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom (England) and United Kingdom (Wales) participated in this project.

Phase 1 looked at policy and practice in participating countries. The end point of phase 1 was a discussion and then an explanation of what inclusive assessment is and a series of recommendations for inclusive assessment policy and practice.

Phase 2 examined how inclusive assessment can be put into practice. This was done via an in-depth examination of how the recommendations and principles of good practice identified in phase 1 work were put into action in selected best practice case study sites.
