Country information for Norway - Teacher education for inclusive education

Pursuant to current legislation, the Ministry lays down national curriculum regulations for individual courses. This includes teacher education in Norway. 

A booklet on teacher training in Norway contains information about the regulations for general teacher education, pre-primary teacher education and practical and didactic education, respectively. 

Since 2017, teacher education has been a five-year master’s degree programme (Source: CPRA – Norway Country Report, p. 45)

National authorities offer continuing education for teachers and professionals in expert organisations. For kindergarten teachers, there is a programme which focuses on including children with minority languages in mainstream settings (Source: IECE – Norway Country Survey Questionnaire, p. 9).
