This resource provides materials to support discussion between different stakeholder groups at all levels of the system in order to begin to address the OoP project recommendations that focus on: child rights and participation; conceptual clarity and coherence and a continuum of support. A summary of project findings and recommendations can be found in the project policy brief.

The resource is structured around 5 key questions:

  • How can we embed the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) in national/local policy to ensure the rights of all learners to a quality education?
  • What do we understand by inclusive education?
  • How can we organise provision to meet the needs of all our school community?
  • How can we identify and overcome barriers to participation and learning for all?
  • How can we collaborate with key stakeholders to secure a commitment to change and improve?

Clicking on the any of the questions will take you to a new page that describes the various resources relevant to this question and provides some key points that could form the basis of stakeholder discussions.

Linked materials include extracts from the project literature review, reports and discussions including practical examples and quotes from key stakeholders at the sites visited. All of these resources and practical examples aim to provide material for reflection in order to help bridge the gap between theory and practice. They should be used to challenge traditions and ‘disrupt’ conventional thinking by asking questions to support an analysis of the current context and provide the starting point for successful change. In this way, these questions and related resources can be used collaboratively to review practice and plan for further development.
