The European Agency Statistics on Inclusive Education (EASIE) data tables and country background information for the 2018/2019 school year are now available on the Agency’s data web area.
EASIE provides individual country data on education systems in participating Agency member countries. This data informs country-level work on learners’ rights issues connected to equity and participation in inclusive education. The data collection is aligned with the European Commission’s strategic objectives for education and training, as outlined in the 2020 Communication on Achieving the European Education Area by 2025.
Data is presented in two tables. Data Table 1 provides data on all children/learners and where they are educated. Data Table 2 provides data relating to where children/learners with an official decision of special educational needs are educated. The data tables are accompanied by descriptive, qualitative country background information to give a clear context to the quantitative data provided.
The website now includes a new feature which allows users to view and download automatically-generated individual country reports. These reports include an agreed set of indicators, which are calculated from the information in the data tables. The indicators provide information on enrolment rates and identification rates of learners with an official decision of special educational needs in different forms of education.
The Agency has also developed a new guide to the data tables and country background information, which is available on the Outputs page of the EASIE web area. The guide provides information on the working definitions used, the data collected, and how the data is used to automatically calculate the indicators in the individual country reports.
A Cross-Country Report for the 2018/2019 school year dataset is due to be published in early 2022.
