The Agency has recently produced a report on the legislative framework for inclusive education in Finland and Ireland, as part of a multi-country Technical Support Instrument (TSI) project.
The ‘Fostering Inclusive Quality Education in Finland and Ireland’ project is funded by the European Union via the Technical Support Instrument and implemented by the Agency in partnership with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM). It aims to help the two participating countries, Finland and Ireland, identify key objectives and plan actions for promoting equitable learning opportunities, improving educational outcomes and increasing access to mainstream education for all learners, to enable them to reach their full potential.
The report, entitled ‘Findings report on the legislative framework of inclusive provision’, is a key deliverable of the project. A team of the Agency country analysts produced the report, with support from the project’s Steering Committee and research advisor Professor Lani Florian.
The report analyses the current legislative and policy framework for inclusive education in Finland and Ireland, at legal, institutional and governance levels. It particularly focuses on the countries’ national priorities and recommendations that support inclusive provision in mainstream settings. The report’s findings will inform project activities, including the upcoming national stakeholder consultations.
The executive summary of the report on legislative information and policy priorities in Finland and Ireland is available to download below in English and Finnish.
