At the end of April 2025, the second peer-learning event in the Learner Participation in Inclusive Education (LPIE) activity took place in Vilnius, Lithuania. The event focused on enhancing learners’ socio-emotional participation in education.
The first day saw participants, including representatives from Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Portugal and United Kingdom (Scotland), visit two local schools. These visits provided a platform for exchanges with school leaders and teachers on strategies to support learners vulnerable to exclusion, ensuring their full integration into daily school life. The participants also had the opportunity to hear directly from learners about their personal experiences in school. A visit to the Lithuanian Centre for Inclusion in Education further enriched the participants’ understanding of promoting inclusive education and supporting both schools and learners.
The second day was dedicated to in-depth discussions on methodological approaches for collecting and generating qualitative data on learners’ socio-emotional participation. The EASNIE team presented the proposed methodology for data generation and analysis. This was followed by a discussion where participants reviewed the proposals and planned the next steps for the LPIE activity. These steps include piloting the proposed methodology with teachers from the participating countries.
The LPIE web area contains more information about the LPIE activities. Additionally, a background paper offers insights into the topic of participation in relation to the LPIE activity.
