Two publications from the Teacher Professional Learning for Inclusion (TPL4I) project are available on the Agency website.
The TPL4I project sets out to explore key aspects of teacher education and how teachers can be effectively prepared to include all learners. The Agency aims to include all its member countries in the project, exploring national policies on teacher professional learning for inclusion.
The first year of the project has culminated in the publication of a Literature Review and a Policy Self-Review Tool. The Literature Review explores policy documents and research literature, to review the policy frameworks for teacher professional learning currently in place internationally and in Agency member countries. It investigates the policy elements that are needed to prepare all teachers to include all learners, and which of these need further exploration at European level.
The TPL4I Policy Self-Review Tool developed from a mapping grid which was used to collect Agency member countries’ policy information on teacher professional learning for inclusion. The resulting Self-Review Tool outlines different policy elements that are important in developing policy to support teacher professional learning for inclusion. It is an open source document, which means it can be adapted to users’ own needs and contexts. Policy-makers can use it to review national policy on teacher professional learning for inclusion.
Following on from these publications, the TPL4I project will continue to work with Agency member countries. Work in the second year of the project will involve a methodology report, a synthesis report and a project summary report.
